Brenk Systemplanung participates in regularly organized round robin tests for in situ gamma spectrometry; such tests are part of our quality management for our clearance measuring equipment. The last participation took place at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry of the University of Regensburg at which the “K-RISK-Phantom-Wall” was subject of the measurements. The “Kulmbach-Regensburger In-situ-Calibration-Phantom” (K-RISK) allows the simulation of realistic distributions of contamination in a wall. In such comparison tests, radioactive sources with unknown nuclide compositions, unknown activities and unknown spatial distribution in the phantom wall are used. The objective of the measurements is to measure as precisely as possible the nuclide composition, the activity and the spatial distribution within the wall. The comparison test showed a very good conformance between our measurement results and the data of the radioactive source in the K-RISK and again demonstrated the high quality of our measuring equipment and evaluation algorithm related to clearance measurement for nuclear facilities and land areas.
