During normal operation and the decommissioning phase, nuclear facilities discharge radionuclides with the exhaust air and, if necessary, the waste water within the framework of officially specified limit values. The calculation of the exposure of the population by this discharge of radionuclides was previously carried out in § 47 StrlSchV (2011) and is now regulated in § 100 StrlSchV (2018). This change in the regulations is also accompanied by an adaptation of the calculation regulation: The previous General Administrative Regulation (AVV) for Section 47 StrlSchV will be replaced by the “AVV Activities”, which is currently available as an advanced draft and is to be prepared by mid-2019 in the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS).
In the past 2 decades, we have carried out such calculations for almost all nuclear sites in Germany, for which we had developed validated computer programs for carrying out the complex calculations. We are currently adapting our calculation methods to the new requirements of the “AVV activities” and developing our programs anew so that we can offer you also in the future the complete execution of the
exposure calculations for discharges in accordance with the latest requirements.
