The Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) regularly carries out a measurement comparison for local dose rate meters within the framework of its tasks as a control centre for questions of radioactivity monitoring in case of increased natural radioactivity (NORM). National organisations and institutions and private companies may participate in this measurement comparison, to take part with their measuring devices in an independent benchmarking process.
We also took part in the comparison with a total of six measuring devices of different types in June 2022. Our focus was on quantifying the variances of the individual measurement results for each measuring device and on comparing our measuring devices with each other.
For this purpose, BfS made available three measuring areas with different local dose rates on the Wismut GmbH site in Reust near Ronneburg.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the BfS for the excellent organisation and the courteous support on site. With great weather, working outdoors is obviously fun.
Further information about our measuring devices and our services related to NORM can be obtained under the respective links.
Please note: we will inform you on our performance in the measurement comparison in a future NEWS as soon as the results on the measurements by all participants become available through BfS.
